Stand By Me (1986)

In our latest episode, presented by #AllThingsFilm.net, we discuss the #1986 #RobReiner classic, #StandByMe. This was based on a short story from #StephenKing, starring #RiverPheonix, #CoreyFeldman, #WilWheaton, #JerryO’connell, and co-starring #KeiferSutherland, #JohnCusack, #CaseySiemaszko, and #RichardDreyfuss.

Throughout this episode we examine the music of #BEKing, the actors, behind the scenes stories, and the transgenerational appeal of this film. We also discuss why this may be Rob Reiner’s masterpiece, the legacy of River Pheonix, the cult of Wil Wheaton, the underrated, but surprisngly great career of Jerry O’Connell, and the tragedy of Corey Feldman never getting a chance to demonstrate his acting prowess beyond this film.

There are also brief notes on the score, the #extradiagetic sound, some discussion on Keifer Sutherland, and #MarkTwain’s #HuckleberryFinn and #TomSawyer who are quite close to River Pheonix and Wil Wheaton’s characters, Gordie and Chris.

We also have a contest running.
