Battle Royale is the story of forty-two ninth-grade students from a Japanese high school forced by legislation to compete in a Battle Royale. The students are given a bag with a randomly selected weapon and rations of food and water, before being sent off to kill each other until one survives–or they all die.

The movie focuses on how they cope. Some play the game like the psychotic #Kiriyama or the sexual #Mitsuko, others like the heroes of the movie, #Shuya, #Noriko, and #Kawada try to find a way out, without violence. As the numbers lower, is there any way for Shuya, and his classmates to survive?
